Andrea Elston

Andrea holds a B.A. in Elementary Education and spent twenty years teaching multiple grade levels at a Christian school. During that time, she spoke at the school’s chapel services, served as the teacher representative on the School Board, sat on the curriculum review committee, and coordinated the Young Authors creative writing competition for regional Christian schools. In 2019, Andrea and her husband, Chris, started Shine-A-Light Press, a traditional publishing company offering books and supplementary curriculum to support homeschooling and private school educators as well as churches. Both are strong Christians who are concerned about the nation's current education system.

Beyond Book Reports: Integrating literature to enhance learning for upper elementary students

(Homeschool How To)

This workshop will support home educators in using their favorite books to engage even the most reluctant learner by providing resources and methods to find the educational value and curricular application in just about any piece of literature. This session will shine a light on how to integrate both old classics and newly published material in unexpected ways and subject areas such as math, science, social studies, and even Bible.
