Speaker Sessions
LGBTQ+ Ideology and Same Sex Attraction: What Our Children are Facing and How to Respond
(Biblical Worldview)
Children today are inundated with LGBTQ+ indoctrination via social media, entertainment, and personal friendships. Now there are movements, even within the church, that have accepted varying degrees of LGBTQ+ affirmation. Christian parents can take steps to address this issue biblically. In this session, we will explore how biblical worldview strategies can shape our children’s thinking about these concepts.
Teaching Apologetics at Home (Part 1): The Power to Change Beliefs
(Biblical Worldview)
No matter what we teach, we all run across an argument, view, or philosophy that rejects or diminishes the Christian faith. But when defending the faith to our children, there are pitfalls that can actually injure their faith instead of helping it. In this talk, we will develop practical guidelines for defending our faith that allow our children to exercise higher levels of thinking processes.
Teaching Apologetics at Home (Part 2): The Power to Defend our God
(Biblical Worldview)
As we face a world that has developed sophisticated arguments against Christianity and the absence of the true God, we, too, must increase our competency in defending our faith at home. In this talk, we discuss a tool for defending the faith called “B.I.G. Apologetics” — a simple but effective model that allows intelligent engagement with difficult arguments, views, or philosophies that are set up against the knowledge of God.
How to Create Thinking Habits in Our Children: From Worldview Down to the Lesson Plan
(Homeschool How-to)
Let’s face it, the biblical worldview has been ethereal for too long. If the biblical worldview is to have any legitimacy, it must be practical. In this talk, we will learn how to develop the lost art of reading, writing, and arithmetic in our teaching. We will establish that every subject taught in the home involves these three skills. We will then see how worldview is at the heart of 1) organizational thinking in reading, 2) critical thinking in writing, and 3) conductive thinking in arithmetic.
Losing Our Religion in Home Education: Creating a Stickier Biblical Worldview
(Biblical Worldview)
We teach our children from a biblical worldview. So why are so many children from Christian homes abandoning the Bible, the church, and, ultimately, the faith? In this talk, we will discuss the cognitive process of how this divorce between biblical worldview instruction and biblical faithfulness happens. Then we will discuss steps that will help develop our children’s sense of certainty, value of truth, and individual responsibility found in the Law and the gospel.
Calling All Men! We Need a Better Definition for Servant Leadership
(Family Discipleship)
Today, more than ever, we need strong, reliable men, husbands, and fathers. At the heart of biblical leadership in the home is a hierarchy of love for God that then dictates how we will love others. The higher the level of responsibility and the weight that accompanies decision-making in the home, the greater the temptation is for men to either become like a child to their wife or become a bully in the home. In this talk, we will discuss practical, biblical acts of headship in the home and how to make a real difference in the next generation.
Walking Away From the Faith: What is Waiting at the Public University
(Life Launch)
There have been many news articles about unrest and political activism in public universities. There have also been many stories of students leaving the faith after attending public universities. What are Christian homeschoolers in for when they embark on attending such a place? After numerous years of teaching in public colleges and universities, Renton will lay out the challenges that Christian homeschoolers will face, as well as biblical strategies for preparing them for those challenges.
