How to Talk to Your Preteen and Teen About Evolution and Intelligent Design
(Biblical Worldview)
Many parents feel unsure how to address evolution and creation with their children — especially as they grow older and ask big faith-and-science questions. Yet these conversations matter because when God’s light shines, truth prevails. In this session, homeschool mom, Master Naturalist, and Nat Theo podcast host Eryn Lynum equips parents to approach evolution, neo-Darwinism, theistic evolution, and intelligent design with confidence and prayer. We’ll explore where modern science challenges Darwin’s theory, why neo-Darwinism fails under mathematical scrutiny, and why theistic evolution conflicts with God’s character and Word. You’ll also see how evidence in the natural world points to intelligent design, and how to guide your children with clarity, logic, and faith. Leave with practical talking points to root your family in truth and God’s enduring Word.
How Can An Axolotl Regrow Part of Its Brain? Discover God’s Designs in Reptiles and Amphibians
(Children’s Activity)
How can an axolotl regrow parts of its heart and brain? How does a chameleon change colors? Dive into the world of reptiles and amphibians with Certified Master Naturalist Eryn Lynum of the Nat Theo podcast. Children will explore God’s incredible creativity through the study of herpetology, and they will meet a live axolotl. As students (ages 5-12) discover how God designed the axolotl’s DNA to regrow parts of its body, they’ll be reminded of an even greater truth: God gives us new hearts and renews our minds through His Spirit and Word. Through engaging teaching and hands-on exploration, children will walk away with awe for God’s creation and a deeper understanding of how His Word changes us from the inside out.
A Wonder-Filled Education: Using Nature Study to Teach Every Subject
(Biblical Worldview)
What if every subject could grow from the wonders of God’s creation? In this session, Certified Master Naturalist, homeschool mom, and Nat Theo podcast host Eryn Lynum will show how nature study can become a simple, joyful framework for teaching everything: math, history, science, writing, art, and biblical worldview. Spot Fibonacci patterns in flowers, explore how bird flight inspired the Wright brothers, and see why a Japanese bullet train was redesigned using a kingfisher’s beak. Travel through history with Lewis and Clark, Roosevelt, and Audubon. Build stronger writers and thinkers through journaling, careful observation, and worldview conversations. Leave with practical ideas you can immediately use to fill your homeschool with wonder — and root your children in truth.
Roly-Polies, Ladybugs, Bats, and Other Things in Nature That Are Not What They Seem
(Children’s Activity)
What exactly is a roly-poly? Is a ladybug really a bug? God’s creation is full of fascinating creatures with “hidden” identities. Certified Master Naturalist Eryn Lynum will guide children in discovering how things in nature are not always what they first appear to be. As students (ages 5-12) investigate roly-polies, ladybugs, bats, and more, they’ll practice the important skill of observation – learning to carefully study God’s world in order to discover what is true. Just as creation teaches us to tell what something is (and is not), God’s Word equips us to discern truth from falsehood in culture and society. Kids will learn skills in keen observation and nature study, as well as careful handling of the Word of God.
