Anyone Can Homeschool!
(You Can Do It! Track)
When I say that Anyone Can Homeschool, I stand by my assertion. I have homeschooled through single motherhood, working in and outside the home, low income, chronic illness, and more. And it isn’t just me. Other parents do the same thing every day, in lots of different ways. Let me help you think outside the public school classroom and see the freedom and flexibility in home education.
Factual History 101 for Young Children
(Homeschool How-to)
How do you answer your young children when they ask you questions about history? Do you Google the answers? Do you just say, “I don’t know”? What is your response? You can have an answer, and you can do it with confidence! The answer is in the printed word, in the form of primary sources. The truth about history is voluminous! There is absolutely no excuse for us or our children to be in the dark. No matter their age, our children are ready to get history from the original diaries, journals, and autobiographies of the Americans who came before us. Nicki will talk about what these primary sources are, how to find them, and how to use them with any curriculum at any age.
High School is Actually the Best Part of Homeschooling
(High School & Beyond)
Algebra, biology, and research papers can be scary. Who is going to be in charge of dissecting the frog? How will they learn to diagram sentences? A parent can’t possibly produce a college-ready graduate, can they? The high school years often cause a deer-in-the-headlights mentality when it comes to homeschooling. Even well-educated adults are somehow reduced to fear and trembling when the prospect of teaching their own children basic high school subjects comes up. But why? If we survived it, why can’t we teach it? Nicki wants to tell you what you don’t often hear: high school is actually the best part of homeschooling.
How to be an Online Influencer
(Life Launch)
With the internet, self-employment has so many possibilities, and the world needs more Christians speaking truth! Entrepreneurship is a viable path for many people, and there are multiple ways to achieve it. Nicki will share her experience with various media, including YouTube, blogging, social media, podcasting, affiliate marketing, and even self-publishing books. Students will be introduced to a variety of free tools to get started in all of these. They will be encouraged to consider what kind of content they could share, how to build a brand, how to be consistent, and how to be a positive influence while earning an income.
Making America Great
(Faith, Freedom & Foundations Track)
The Bible is the source of all wisdom for Christians, and the Constitution is still the answer to America’s issues. This combination has worked well for Americans for over 200 years! America was once called “a city on a hill,” and it was because of this freedom that was grounded in strong biblical principles. Join Nicki for a time of encouragement to stay true to the essentials that made America great!
Teaching America's Biblical Foundation
(Faith, Freedom & Foundations Track)
We’ve all heard and read that America has a Christian heritage. But when it comes down to the logistics of teaching this to our children, it often feels overwhelming. Nicki will share her experiences as a homeschooled kid and how she has been teaching this to her own children for more than two decades. Come find out why and how to equip your kids with the deep Christian roots that are the foundation of America’s freedom.
Preschool: Is It Necessary?
(Homeschool How-to)
With five children and 25-plus years of homeschooling experience, Nicki has learned a few things about homeschooling preschool! And after all this time, she believes it’s not necessary. In this workshop, Nicki will share a little about where we got this term, and why it’s a public-school mindset that homeschoolers don’t need. Instead, you’ll learn how to enjoy the little years and encourage children to learn new things without “school.”
Understanding School Choice
(Biblical Worldview)
There are a lot of tempting promises floating around today by elected officials, willing to give you money to homeschool. While it sounds innocent enough (“my tax dollars”), the truth is much more dangerous. Learn what’s behind these attractive claims, and how your homeschool freedom is at risk.
